Naperville News Digest: Drop off items for Naperville humane society at Menards; events raising money for Turning Pointe Autism Foundation

On 17th May, the NAMI DuPage, an associate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will host a special fundraising event to support their cause further. The funds from this event will go towards expanding current programs and providing continued assistance, education, and advocacy for individuals and families impacted by Autism and other developmental disabilities.

The location of the event will be at the Chicago Marriott Naperville, 1801 N. Naper Blvd, while the time will be 5;30p.m.

What Guests can expect?

Guests can expect a lively evening filled with dinner, dancing, and entertainment as we celebrate the achievements of individuals and organizations in our community. In addition to recognizing award recipients, guests will have opportunities to participate in a silent auction and raffle to support NAMI DuPage’s mission.

Lastly, during the month of April, several car dealerships in Naperville, such as Continental Mazda of Naperville and Lexus of Naperville, will participate in a campaign called “Test Drives for Autism Awareness.” This campaign aims to raise funds for the Turning Pointe Autism Foundation by donating $20 for every test drive taken at the participating dealerships. This generous initiative not only raises awareness about autism but also provides much-needed support for individuals and families affected by it.

Turning Pointe

For those who don’t know, Turning Pointe is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education and support for individuals with autism. Founded in 2007 by volunteers and led by Randy & Kim Wolf, the organization grew from a deeply personal journey into a professional, life-changing support system.

Today, Turning Pointe creates best-practice learning environments to increase independence, improve communication, and support socially appropriate behaviors. As a 501(c)(3), they rely on the support of volunteers, donors, school districts, and Employment Partners to build a thriving community where students with autism can grow and succeed.
